Jeri Kay Kao, counselor in Decatur, TX

Who knew when you started googling “find a therapist near me” that you would’ve found so many therapists in Decatur. And yet, sometimes it can feel like they are all saying the same thing. How do you find someone who truly meets your needs and understands what YOU are all about?

You've tried doctors, you've read the books and talked to friends, but things aren't changing. You need an expert who truly knows what it takes to help you not only find relief but to find your way into a better life.

My name is Jeri Kay Kao and I became a therapist because I deeply love helping people who have been through hard situations and want to make their life better. I love seeing people not just heal, but the impact that they make on their families, friends, and communities when they are happier and healthier.

I have a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling and a second Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family therapy. I have been a licensed LPC since 2017 and have specialized training and experience in working with traumatic experiences related to childhood physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. My specialties include dissociation, trauma, PTSD, and how trauma impacts couples.

I also have the designation of Supervisor attached to my LPC license. As a LPC-Supervisor, I have undergone intensive training authorized by the State of Texas, to work with newly licensed professional counselors in order to help them get the greatest amount of knowledge, understanding, and guidance during their 3000 hours of work prior to being fully licensed.
